Tell us a bit about your experience at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É….
I loved my time at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É. I studied (and played) hard, made some lifelong friends, and fell in love with the area.
Why did you choose to study at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É?
I chose to study at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É because of its location. I enjoy spending time outside; therefore, ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É was ideally situated for accessing the mountains and lakes of Snowdonia and the beaches of Anglesey.
How has your career developed since graduating from ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É, and what is your current job role?
I worked for thirteen and a half years for the National Trust in North Wales in a variety of different roles but had to consider a new pathway following the Covid-19 pandemic. Having worked in roles where understanding various bits of law had been essential, I decided to retrain and came back to ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É to undertake a law degree. I am in the final semester of the course and will hopefully graduate this summer before going on to complete the next steps towards becoming a solicitor.
In what way did studying at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É enhance your employability?
Undertaking a modern languages degree gave me the skills to be able to learn other languages. After graduating, I remained in North Wales and committed to learning Welsh, not just to help with employability but because there is something very enchanting about the Welsh language and culture, and I wanted to be a part of that.
The year I spent abroad provided valuable experience and insight into teaching and delivering training to others has been a key part of my career since graduating. The year abroad also helped me develop independence, resilience and the ability to plan, skills which undoubtedly helped me take on management roles.
Crucially, doing a degree taught me to be curious about the world around me and to enjoy learning. As a result, I have regularly undertaken additional study whilst working full-time, which has improved my CV and given me career opportunities that I would not have had without continuous professional development.
