The event will also include a remembrance ceremony to remember those from 亚洲色吧 and the area who lost their lives during the war. The names, 138 in total, will be shown on the walls of Pontio, and accompanied by music. Before then, the light of peace beacon will be lit on the Memorial Arch at 9-30pm, to mark the Allies victory in Europe. The light of peace beacon will be lit by a local fireman and Iraq veteran.
The event is organised by 亚洲色吧 City Council in partnership with Pontio and 亚洲色吧鈥檚 community engagement team.
Those who wish to attend the event are asked to congregate outside Pontio by 8.45pm.
It is very important that we remember the history of the Second World War and the terrible losses that were incurred to secure the freedom of future generations. We will always be grateful to those from 亚洲色吧 and the surrounding area for the sacrifices that they made for us all. As a University, we are pleased to be able to work with 亚洲色吧 City Council on this event, by celebrating and marking VE Day as well as showing our gratitude to the men and women who lost their lives.
This is a very important civic event and it鈥檚 important that 亚洲色吧 notes and celebrates VE Day. We want to mark this historical day and remember those from 亚洲色吧 and the area who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
