Prof Lucy Huskinson, Psychoanalysis and Architecture
Prof has recently published a new and significant philosophical paper on architecture and psychoanalysis in the peer-reviewed, international journal, Inscriptions.
The paper, ‘Questioning the dualities of psychoanalysis and architecture: mediating our connection to the material world’ can be found in Inscriptions, vol.7 (1), and is a development of Lucy’s keynote speech given to the international conference, Beyond Dualism—Philosophy, Religion, Science held last summer in Gdynia, Poland. The event was sponsored by the Ereignis Center for Philosophy and the Arts of Poland and Norway, and the keynote speech was the highlight of the conference for many attendees.
Gdynia city centre is renowned for its modernist architecture with many buildings designed to look like ships to reflect Gdynia’s status as a prominent seaport city. The theme of Lucy’s keynote conference paper was therefore very apt. Below is a photo of a building in Gdynia which give a taste of the modernist architecture which exist in the city.
