Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Treatments in Bangor, NI

Botox®/Azzalure

We offer an anti-wrinkle injection treatment in our Bangor beauty clinic, commonly known as Botox.

Botox®/Azzalure are trade names for preparations of Botulinum Toxin type A (which is a safely diluted bacteria protein) licensed for use on prescription by the medical profession.

These treatments are injected into the overactive muscle which causes them to temporarily relax. Both have been used by the medical profession for many years in the treatment of muscle spasm, eyelid and facial deviation and in more recent years used to eradicate wrinkle formation during muscle movement. They are proven to be a both safe and effective treatment.

We associate ageing with the development and deepening of wrinkles and furrows in the skin. Botulinum Toxin type A can be used to temporarily smooth and relax these muscles. By relaxing these muscles the appearance of frown lines, smile lines and the wrinkles in the skin decrease, making you look younger again.

For almost 10 years the smoothing of lines and wrinkles around the face using toxin injections has been the most common cosmetic procedure (known as Dermal Fillers).

The most commonly treated areas are crow’s feet, the furrows on the forehead and frown lines.

The process is very straightforward. An initial consultation is necessary for new patients to assess whether this treatment is suitable, or if another procedure would produce the more desired results.

The patient is then booked for the appropriate appointment and a follow up appointment 2 weeks later to see how well the lines have softened:-

Botulinum Toxin type A injections can take up to 14 days to show. In most cases, good results are usually obtained after a single injection. Sometimes in patients with very active facial muscles, a second injection is necessary 2 weeks later. Patients can expect to have a result that lasts between 3 to 5 months.

What is Botox and how does it work?

Bot A toxin, commonly known as Botox, is a prescription only medical procedure.

Used for over 50 years within the medical profession, it helps to reduce or eradicate dynamic wrinkles (those that appear when you use different facial expressions). It works by reducing the ability of the muscle to move and produce the wrinkles.

Botox treatment will address any ‘static’ wrinkles which are visible when the face is at rest. These wrinkles will soften slightly with Botox treatment but not completely disappear. Fillers can also help in these areas, which your clinician will discuss with you at your consultation.

The treatment lasts around four months and is most commonly used in the areas of:

  • frown lines ( between eyebrows and forehead)
  • forehead
  • crow’s feet (fine lines beside eyes)
  • laughter lines
  • Smokers lines and furrows ( lines around mouth)
  • bunny line (line alone bridge of nose)

What happens at a consultation?

Before arriving at your consultation, it is useful if you have an idea of which areas you feel would benefit from treatment.

During the consultation, your practitioner will complete your medical history, discuss treatment areas, options and cost, possible side effects and suitability for treatment.

If you decide to proceed with the recommended treatment, an appointment will then be made within two weeks, or at a time that is suitable for you.
